Subject: Pen Pals For Soldiers

Hi Barry,

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the opportunity of being involved with your organization today.  I was truly impressed with how supportive people are with what pen pals for soldiers accomplishes and how so many people were enthusiastic with participating.  It is rare that people are so willing to take a few minutes out of their day to help another person, but I really think this program hits home for so many people even those of us who don't have family members overseas but are so grateful for the work they do.  I left the event at about 2 p.m. and had hoped to thank you in person before I left but could not find you.  I hope to make it tomorrow, but still have not found a person to cover my shift at work yet.  If I can't, I hope you can email me future events or any other ways I can help.  I do have a busy schedule, but once school is over I would really like to use my time in organizations such as yours.

I also had one other request, I would really appreciate it if you could email me any sort of form verifying my involvement today, as I do have to email a copy to my professor.  I believe you said you could give me a letterhead.

Thank You again, and I hope I can be involved in future events.

Regards,

Sobia Manjra

Dear Barry,

Thank you so much for allowing our kids to participate in this awesome program.  I found out that on Friday, Campus Canyon Elm, Mountain Meadows Elm, and Peach Hill Elm all get out at 1:05 pm and Santa Rosa gets out later. So, I thought that the best way to be able to get all the schools is to start with Campus Canyon at 1:30pm.  Our Campus Canyon site is made up of mostly smaller children so I don't think that they will be able to sit through a 20 min speech but we can see how it goes.  But lets assume that it will take 20 min that way we can plan what time we can get finished with all the schools.

Campus Canyon: 1:30-1:50
Mountain Meadows: 2:00-2:20
Peach Hill: 2:25-2:45
Santa Rosa: 2:50-3:10

Most of the schools are close together.  The furthest are Campus Canyon and Mountain Meadows.  I was wondering if there would be enough time in that 20 min to do a little Q&A with the kids.  If not that fine.
The main thing that we really want to promote to the kids is how to be caring to others. (i.e. military, senior citizens, people in the hospital, their friends and family)  We also don't really want to promote fighting and war (even though that's where these letters are going to) so if the Marines could talk more about how receiving letters boost the solders spirits that would be great.  I also have one question, since we are doing this program where the children aren't going to have one-on-one pen pals, are the school sites going to have 1 pen pal soldier or more than 1?  That way we can inform our parents more about this program and how exactly we are going to participate in it.
Thank you once again for allowing us to do this program and hopefully this can be an ongoing part of our childcare program.  Please call me if you have any questions or concerns. (805) 523-7613. Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Lisa Mendez

Sir,

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and your organization for what you do.  I am with VAQ-138 and we are currently deployed with the Carl Vinson.  It sure does mean a lot to us to know that there are those back at home that appreciate the job we are doing out here.  We have received quite a few of the packages you have sent out and have been passing them out to our shipmates.  I personally give you thanks because I used to live in California and was witness to quite a few anti-military demonstrations.  It is hard to watch the news and see all the negative things that they decide to report on.  You never hear about us rebuilding the entire country's infrastructure, rebuilding schools and hospitals, supplying doctors and medical aid to those who never would have been able to get treatment before.  Enough of my soapbox ranting...

Thank you from all of us here at VAQ-138.  Please pass or gratitude along to all those that help make a difference.  Know that your work is more than appreciated.

Subject: Thank you from Iraq

Dear Sir,
I want to thank your organization for the care packages our soldiers received from your organization. They were distributed by a SGT Rowley: the Multi-national Corps-Iraq chaplains assistant. All the soldiers were grateful for the packages and letters. I want to personally thank two young boys named Forrest and Carlos for their cards. I can not thank everyone enough back in the U.S. for their support of us over here. You and your organization are doing a great job and please continue supporting the
soldiers, marine, sailors and airmen over here in Iraq.

Hi Barry

Thank you so much for making our Girl Scouts Cookie Drive for the troops such a big success. I can't tell you how great it was to team up with Pen Pals for Soldiers and see all of the people come out to support the men and women overseas. I know this is not the last time we will team up. If I can ever help you with anything please feel free to get in touch with me.

Received a package from pen pals. In it was a letter from a young girl by the name of Jasmine. Wrote her an e-mail. I am Chief Petty Officer Darrin Bostick aboard the USS Carl Vinson. Attached to VAQ-138 Squadron. I'm guessing that the jasmine on the web site and the one that wrote the letter is one in the same. Just thought I would let some adult know about it as unfortunately in this day and age, you can never be to careful. It is great what pen pals is doing and makes a tremendous difference on the moral of my troops and to me personally.

Pen Pals for Soldiers,

I would like to thank-you, on behalf of the Airman assigned to Vandenberg Air Force Base Fire Department, Lompoc, California. Thank-you very much for the delicious Girl Scout cookies but also for your unwavering support for all of the United States Military troops deployed around the world. I can not explain in words the expressions on the faces of those Soldiers that receive letters from home.  It is your thoughtfulness of our Airman that give us that extra edge to continue fighting for the people at home and helping those in need. Being away from those you love can bear a lot of weight on military member’s shoulders but with your uplifting letters off support we are able to make it threw the long deployments and time spent away from family. Once again thank-you!

Sincerely,

Staff Sergeant Jeremy J. Camacho
